5 Red Hot Tips To Get Your Articles Read

By Mary Gallivan

Many people dread writing articles and feel that’s it’s too much work especially if the articles they do produce don’t get read. For some people, reading an article will seem like hard work if the article is boring and doesn’t really provide much information. The whole point of writing an article is to get it read, so always make sure you impart good information.

In order to get your article read it first has to be written. Writing a good article doesn’t have to be strenuous or a real chore. Make a note of the following tips to help take the hard work out of writing your articles. You’ll soon find that once you get the hang of it writing articles can be fun as well as potentially highly profitable.

It is better if the articles you write center on something you are knowledgeable about. If you know a lot about a certain topic or theme then writing won’t seem to be hard work and will be much more enjoyable.

To ensure that your articles are read and enjoyed here are 5 red hot tips to improve their readability.

1. Write short paragraphs. If the paragraphs are too long it can be too much like hard work to read. The reader will quickly move on to the next paragraph or worse yet someone else’s article which is easier to read. It makes no difference how interesting you have made the article if the reader moves on too quickly simply because there were too many words in one paragraph.

2. Use numbers or bullets. These help to break up the text and, as each point is stressed, it is easier to remember and digest. As each point, tip, guide or method is started with a bullet or number, readers will know automatically that this is where the tips start.

3. Provide a good attention-grabbing title or header. If your title grabs a person’s curiosity you’re halfway to getting your article read. Use statements and questions that utilize keywords that people are looking for. Provide titles or headers that describe your articles’ content and make sure that these are short and concise.

4. Keep them interested from the start to the finish. Use real life situations that can be adopted by the reader. Use good descriptions and metaphors to drive home your point, however, don’t overdo it. Driving home your examples with graphic metaphors and similes will make it easy for the reader to imagine what you are talking about. This also makes the reading experience pleasurable and enjoyable.

5. Don’t use a lot of jargon, unless you explain what it means. Not everyone has the same experience that you have and may be new to the topic you are writing about. Equally, keep the language simple and easy to understand. Nobody wants to sit reading with a dictionary in their hand trying to find the meaning of all the long words you have used.

By following and using these tips you will find that writing articles is a joy for both you and your reader. Don’t be put off if your first few articles don’t get many readers. The more articles you write the easier it becomes and your readership (and profits) will start to increase.
